Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a seasoned Lead Platform Engineer to architect and deliver foundational services powering real-time recommendations within the NBA platform. You will own the State Machine and Transactional Outbox components, ensure exactly-once semantics, and drive performance under high concurrency.

You will lead a small team, contribute production code, and set technical standards across Java, Python, Node.js, and TypeScript in a regulated healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 8+ years of full stack software engineering experience, with leadership in platform reliability or production operations.
• Strong experience with Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript in production.
• Automation of testing: unit/integration/end-to-end and performance testing.
• Solid observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, alerting.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery for platform scale and reliability; plan, execute, and ensure operational readiness.
• Own uptime, performance, resilience, and identify bottlenecks pre-incident.
• Build automated testing frameworks spanning unit to performance tests.
• Contribute production code and develop reliability tooling and observability features.
• Define and enforce release readiness criteria and operational quality gates.
• Lead a small engineering pod and mentor engineers and contractors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability across environments.
