Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3 years patient registration and insurance verification experience.
• Emergency Department experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare and Medicaid payors.
• Fluency in English with clear written and oral communication.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and related hospital regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and build strong customer relationships.
• Answer phones professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographics to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor/plan entry.
• Obtain required insurance authorizations where applicable.
• Assist with collections at the point of service.
• Scan registrations and clinical documentation into the system.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs for payments and admissions.
• Assist in reporting data for patient access quality measures.
• Ensure QA of registrations, admissions, transfers, and records.
• Support training of new employees and collaborate with PAS team.
