Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to serve as liaison among patients, payers, and hospital teams. You will verify demographics and insurance, collect out-of-pocket responsibility, and help maximize hospital reimbursement.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 2+ years in patient registration with strong customer service and MS Office skills. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus for certain markets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Spanish language ability may be required in some markets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance and hospital regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and build client relationships.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to the hospital.
• Handle telephone communications and record messages for medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and appropriate payor/plan.
• Obtain authorizations as required by plans.
• Assist with collections at the time of service.
• Scan and manage medical records.
