Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and the hospital revenue cycle team. You will collect demographic information, verify insurance benefits, and secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.

Day shift, full-time, at a 16-bed small-format hospital. Strong customer service and English proficiency are required; Spanish is a plus in applicable markets.

Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by understanding customer needs and building relations.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure patient safety and proper registration.
• Record messages and communicate with appropriate medical staff via phone.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete and accurate demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and ensure correct payor/plan entry in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans where applicable.
• Support collections at the time of service in a customer-friendly manner.
• Scan and file medical records and registrations into the system.
