Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead design engineer in structural engineering for nuclear facilities. You will guide a team of engineers, interface with other disciplines, and coordinate directly with clients on complex projects requiring robust structural analysis and innovative design solutions.

You will lead design efforts, review calculations, and develop specifications for steel, concrete, and foundations, with occasional travel to client sites for reviews and field verification.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, and ACI 349.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a structural engineering team on engineering projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants.
• Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations, develop specifications, and work with designers for drawing development.
• Prepare, review, or guide the structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
