Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a lead design engineer for structural engineering focused on nuclear facilities and upgrades. You will guide a team, interface with clients and other disciplines, and oversee design calculations and specifications across multiple projects.

Travel to site or offices may be required to coordinate and verify designs. The role emphasizes applying materials knowledge, seismic/loads analysis, and robust design to ensure safety and compliance in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• This role requires a licensed structural engineer with a master's degree and extensive experience in heavy industrial or nuclear facilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and interface with clients.
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes (ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI).

Responsibilities

• Lead a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Guide and mentor engineers, coordinate with other disciplines and clients.
• Prepare, review, and provide guidance for design calculations and specifications.
• Travel to client and vendor offices or plant sites for reviews and field verification.
