Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Professional in Massachusetts to perform and interpret a range of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment. You will work with independence and be proficient with equipment and procedures for your assigned area.

The role emphasizes adherence to lab quality and safety policies, with opportunities to train students and contribute to equipment maintenance and new test development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology required.
• ASCP MT certification preferred.
• Three years of related experience required.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area. Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab Technicians in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in development new test and quality procedures for assigned area.
• Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
