Job summary

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear at Jabil in Prince George, Virginia is responsible for leading the mechanical design, development, validation, industrialization, and lifecycle support of LV switchgear and power distribution products.

This role serves as the technical leader for assigned programs and owns mechanical engineering execution from concept through production release.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with 5+ years in LV switchgear or power distribution.
• Strong leadership of NPI programs from concept to production release.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor) and CAD-driven design.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design and architecture of LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications and deliverables.
• Lead enclosure, busbar, insulation, and mechanical hardware design for safety and manufacturability.
• Direct thermal design, convection, CFD modeling, and thermal validation.
• Drive design transfer, production ramp, and engineering change management across sites.
• Ensure compliance with UL 891/1558, NEC, IEC 61439, NEMA, and IEEE standards.
