Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Systems team for Industrial Water projects. You will lead a design team, coordinate with US and international teams, and oversee mechanical engineering activities across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include leading design efforts for water/wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with standards, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers on system design for complex industrial water/wastewater projects.
• Direct and oversee the development of engineering deliverables including P&IDs, mechanical equipment layouts, piping isometrics, equipment data sheets, and technical specifications.
• Provide technical guidance on engineering calculations to develop equipment and system performance parameters.
• Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Lead and mentor junior and mid-level mechanical engineers and review progress.
• Ensure designs comply with company standards, client requirements, codes and best practices.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
