Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Industrial Water team as a Project Discipline Engineer. You will lead a mechanical design team on water and wastewater facilities, coordinating with US and international teams and guiding piping, equipment layouts, and specifications throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5+ years of related experience, and an active engineering licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support EOR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mechanical engineers on system design for moderately complex industrial water/wastewater projects.
• Oversee engineering deliverables including P&IDs, layouts, piping isometrics, equipment data sheets, and specs.
• Provide technical guidance on calculations to size equipment and assess performance parameters.
• Ensure designs comply with standards, codes, and client requirements.
• Review submittals, calculations, shop drawings, and documentation for project compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design teams.
• Coordinate with other design disciplines and stakeholders.
• Adapt to various delivery methods in Industrial Water projects.
• Manage multiple assignments in a dynamic project environment.
• Uphold QA/QC and company standards.
