Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, Virginia is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for Low Voltage (LV) switchgear to own mechanical design from concept through production release, ensuring safety, reliability, and manufacturability across programs.

You will lead thermal, enclosure, and DFx initiatives, collaborate with global teams, and ensure compliance with UL 891/1558, IEC 61439, and NEMA. 10+ years in mechanical engineering with LV switchgear preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 5+ years in LV switchgear or power distribution products.
• Technical leadership on execution from concept to production release.
• Strong CAD proficiency with Creo/SolidWorks/Inventor or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and architecture of LV switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, and power distribution equipment.
• Lead enclosure architecture, busbar systems, and related assemblies to meet safety, manufacturability, and reliability goals.
• Manage thermal engineering activities including airflow, ventilation, CFD, and temperature-rise validation.
• Drive concept development, prototypes, verification, pilot, and production release activities.
• Lead design transfer and manufacturing readiness reviews across global sites.
• Ensure compliance with UL 891, UL 1558, NEC, IEC 61439, NEMA, and related standards.
