Job summary

Jabil in Prince George, Virginia, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – LV Switchgear to drive mechanical design from concept to production release. You will own enclosure architecture, thermal validation, and compliance with UL/NEMA/IEC standards, while coordinating with global teams across manufacturing and supply chains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years mechanical engineering experience, incl. 5+ years in LV switchgear.
• Technical leadership on NPI from concept to production release.
• Strong CAD proficiency: Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of UL 891, UL 1558, IEC 61439, NEMA, IEEE C37.20.1 standards.
• Experience with FEA, CFD/thermal, and structural simulations.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly process development.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and architecture of LV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering specs and deliverables.
• Lead enclosure, busbar, insulation, and safety hardware design for manufacturability and reliability.
• Lead thermal engineering activities and CFD-based validation.
• Lead design transfer, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp support.
• Collaborate with global teams across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality.
