Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for Low Voltage switchgear in Prince George, Virginia. You will own mechanical design from concept through production release, ensuring alignment with safety, cost, and manufacturability goals, while leading global engineering collaboration.

You will drive DFx, support testing, and collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, and regulatory teams to meet performance targets and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 5+ years in LV switchgear or power distribution.
• Strong CAD proficiency using Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
• Knowledge of UL 891, UL 1558, IEC 61439, NEMA, IEEE C37.20.1, ANSI/IEEE switchgear standards.
• Familiarity with tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, welding and sheet metal design for manufacturability.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication, testing, and PLM systems such as Windchill.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design and architecture of LV switchgear and related equipment.
• Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications and design deliverables.
• Lead enclosure, busbar, and mechanical hardware design for safety, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Lead thermal engineering activities including CFD modeling and thermal validation testing.
• Drive design transfer, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp across sites.
• Ensure compliance with UL/IEC standards and customer requirements.
