Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Lead Engineer to drive continuous improvement across our warehousing and transportation operations.

You will lead data-driven CI initiatives, coach teams in lean, QA, and process optimization, and partner with account management and customers to deliver value. Responsibilities include managing high-impact CI projects, performing statistical analyses, and supporting automation and optimization efforts across safety, quality, and delivery metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 7+ years of related warehousing/transportation/manufacturing experience.
• 7+ years in Warehousing & Transportation and/or Manufacturing industry, Required
• Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio. Expert
• Data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX), Intermediate
• Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems and Management Accountability Systems; PDCA; Value Stream Mapping; Kaizen; 5S/Workplace Organization, Intermediate
• Understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics), Advanced
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Lean methods; CAD tools, Slot3D, MOST, WMS, Labor Mgt. Systems, Advanced

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and identifies gaps; designs a CI plan to drive value and accelerate improvements.
• Manages high impact CI projects across the operation to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth; supports startups/expansions with pricing inputs and go-live certifications.
• Demonstrates competency in Lean, QA, and CI tools; coaches others in Lean principles and process optimization.
• May supervise CI engineers and QA professionals; participates in hiring and performance management with guidance.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; mentors process owners in lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
• Provides regular progress reports and makes inventory or supply chain strategy recommendations.
