Job summary

WSP is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization Lead P&C Field Services Technician for Texas and Louisiana project sites. You will lead field operations, provide technical guidance, and oversee day-to-day site activities in electrical testing and commissioning of substations and power systems.

You will perform on-site relay testing with Omicron/Doble equipment, mentor technicians, coordinate with engineers and clients, uphold safety standards, and ensure quality control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 11+ years in electrical testing, including HV breakers, transformers, and substation protections.
• Experience with transmission, generation, or distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE).
• Relay calibration using Omicron/Doble test sets, control scheme testing, and microprocessor relays testing.
• Knowledge of testing standards (NETA, IEEE, NFPA).
• Experience with 15 kV–500 kV systems and protective relays.
• Proficiency with ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron tools, and AcSELerator Quickset.
• Ability to troubleshoot field issues and document results clearly.
• Able to lift up to 35 lb solo and up to 100 lb with assistance; willing to travel up to 80%.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for complex electrical projects with expert technical guidance.
• Perform on-site protective relay testing with Omicron/Doble equipment.
• Execute and validate advanced protection test sequences per plans and standards.
• Follow safety protocols and participate in daily safety briefings and JHA’s.
• Document site activities using field forms and digital tools.
• Mentor technicians and manage site logistics and communications.
• Coordinate with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure compliant delivery.
