Job summary

Arup seeks a Senior Substation Designer to deliver HV substation designs for power utilities, renewables interconnection, and data centers. From conceptual phase to design completion, you will lead design teams, coordinate with disciplines, and ensure standards and client specifications are met.

The role may be based in our West Coast or Southern offices (Houston/Dallas/Austin). Strong CAD/BIM skills and 6+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in technology or related discipline (minimum).
• 6+ years of related experience in HV substation design.
• Proven experience in 15kV through 345kV utility substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Advanced understanding of AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Experience in BIM software (Inventor, SDS-P4A, Primtech) preferred.
• Ability to learn new design software quickly.
• Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 3D models and 2D drawings of HV substations including single-line diagrams, layouts, conduit and cable plans, grounding grid, lighting plans, and BOMs.
