Job summary

Arup is seeking an experienced Substation Project Engineer to support high-voltage and medium-voltage substation projects including BESS, PV Solar, and data centers. The role may be based in Arup offices in San Francisco among others, and involves coordinating electrical, civil, and control disciplines across project teams.

Responsibilities include scope/schedule/budget management, design reviews, vendor coordination, and progress monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical) required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities for substations and projects.
• Develop and manage project scope, schedule, budget, and execution plans.
• Lead meetings, document decisions and track actions through completion.
• Review drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables for quality.
• Support permitting, interconnection, and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical)

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

Experience delivering substation projects

IEEE/ANSI standards knowledge

Willingness to travel occasionally
