Job summary

Arup is seeking an experienced Substation Project Engineer to support high/medium-voltage substation projects across BESS, Solar PV, Data Center, and Utility sectors. The role can be performed from Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Austin offices, requiring coordination across electrical, civil, protection, SCADA and other disciplines.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget and deliverables, lead project meetings, review technical drawings, and support procurement and vendor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• At least 10 years’ experience in 15kV through 345kV substation design per IEEE/ANSI.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• Experience delivering substation projects from feasibility through commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities for substations and projects.
• Develop scope, schedule, budget, and engineering execution plans.
• Lead meetings, track decisions and actions through completion.
• Coordinate interfaces with clients, utilities, contractors, and vendors.
• Review drawings, specs, and technical documents for consistency and interfaces.
• Support procurement and vendor drawings reviews; resolve technical comments.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation with project team.
• Monitor progress, budget, schedule, and scope changes.
• Support permitting, interconnection, construction, testing, and commissioning.
