Job summary

Arup is seeking a Substation Engineering Leader to drive HV/EHV substation design for electric utilities, renewables, and data centers in the San Francisco area.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers, oversee technical strategy, QA/QC, and contribute to business development and client relationships. The role requires 15+ years of experience, a PE license, and a BS in Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• At least 15 years’ experience in 15kV through 345kV substations design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Experience performing substation design in BIM software (Inventor, SDS-P4A, or Primtech).
• Proven project leadership: leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design, technical strategy, and delivery of HV and EHV substations.
• Prepare and review substation design packages and BOMs.
• Perform studies and calculations: short circuit, grounding, lightning, conduit fill.
• Provide construction support and inter-disciplinary coordination.
• QA/QC for deliverables across multiple offices.
• Grow, mentor, and direct a multi-disciplinary team.
• Develop and lead project pursuits and client relationships.
• Support bid and execution phase design and consulting services.
