Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Superintendent-NE to lead the construction of single-family homes from permit to close.

You will schedule and supervise subcontractors, manage budgets, uphold quality and safety, and ensure on-time delivery while delivering excellent customer service. This role requires reading drawings, coordinating with sales and warranty teams, and maintaining compliance with building codes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience managing multiple homes and schedules on construction sites.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Strong communication and customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage the construction schedule and ensure high quality product is delivered on time and within budget.
• Schedule subcontractors, evaluate quality and efficiency to ensure code compliance and standards.
• Complete homes from planning through occupancy, satisfying contract obligations.
• Inspect workmanship, halt noncompliant work, and ensure scope adherence.
• Authorize subcontractor payments after inspection and material receipt.
• Oversee the customer experience throughout construction with regular updates.
• Maintain site cleanliness and visual appeal across communities.
• Manage post-close warranty processes, scheduling, and QA.
• Communicate with sales, warranty and management to resolve issues proactively.
