Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Superintendent-NE to oversee multiple home constructions from permit through closing. You will schedule and supervise subcontractors, conduct homeowner walkthroughs, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards while maintaining budgets.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to manage complex schedules, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. The position is based in Schaumburg, IL with growth opportunities within a Fortune 500 company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two to four years related experience in construction preferred.
• Must have vehicle and valid driver’s license; willing to drive among communities.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
• General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations and building codes.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; customer-focused.

Responsibilities

• Manage the construction schedule and ensure high-quality product is delivered on time and within budget.
• Schedule subcontractors for each phase and verify workmanship meets plans and code.
• Complete each home site from planning to occupancy and fulfill contract obligations.
• Inspect subcontractor work and halt noncompliant activities as needed.
• Authorize payment of subcontractors after inspection and material receipt.
• Oversee customer experience throughout construction, provide regular progress updates and address concerns.
• Maintain site cleanliness and ensure a visually appealing community during construction.
• Manage post-close warranty process and coordinate with subcontractors for repairs.
• Ensure open communication with sales, warranty, and management teams.
• Maintain knowledge of all applicable building codes.
