Job summary

D.R. Horton in Joliet, IL is seeking a Superintendent-NE to lead home construction on multiple sites from permit to closing. You will schedule and supervise subcontractors, conduct homeowner walk-throughs, coordinate inspections, and maintain safety and quality standards.

You will ensure timely completion, manage costs, and uphold company processes. The role requires strong communication with sales, warranty, and management teams, and the ability to work flexible hours to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–4 years related experience.
• Ability to manage the “13 Milestones of Construction” per JDE.
• Must have a vehicle and valid drivers license to drive among communities.
• Ability to read and interpret construction docs, drawings and specs.
• Knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations, and building codes.
• Proficiency with MS Office and email.
• Ability to stand/walk up to 8 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction schedule to deliver high quality product on time and within budget.
• Schedule subcontractors for each phase and evaluate quality and efficiency.
• Complete each home site from planning to occupancy per contract obligations.
• Inspect workmanship and halt noncompliant work.
• Authorize payments to subcontractors upon verification of work.
• Manage customer experience throughout construction and provide regular progress updates.
• Maintain site cleanliness and an orderly, appealing environment.
• Manage post-close warranty process and coordinate subcontractors as needed.
• Communicate with homeowners to address concerns promptly.
• Stay current with all applicable building codes.
• Collaborate with sales, warranty and management to ensure open communication.
