Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design to join the New England Transportation team. The role can be based in Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH and involves leading high-tech design projects, mentoring junior staff, and delivering innovative transportation solutions.

You will oversee project execution, maintain quality standards, and coordinate with project leaders to meet client requirements. Travel to project sites will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties and project needs.
• Equivalent additional related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects and ensure technical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects, ensuring milestones and quality standards are met.
• Supervise, review and mentor junior engineers; provide technical guidance and training.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects for clients.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal designs as required.
• Perform site reviews to ensure designs align with location specifications and update requirements as needed.
• Assist sales with proposals; review drafts for adherence to standards and client needs.
