Job summary

CDM Smith’s New England Transportation team is seeking a Task Leader for highway design projects in the New England region. Based in Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH, you will lead project design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and ensure technical excellence from concept through final design.

You will coordinate design criteria, cost estimates, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while collaborating with project managers to deliver high-quality solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience. Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Coordinate technical advancement and ensure accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversight & Management: Direct oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
• Mentorship: Supervise, review, and mentor junior engineers.
• Design Development: Develop criteria, alignments, construction plans, specs, and costs.
• Collaboration: Work with Project Leaders and Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Compliance: Ensure designs meet federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal as required.
• Site Studies: Perform site reviews; update requirements based on location specs.
• Proposal Support: Help create proposals and review drafts for adherence to standards.
