Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design projects within the New England Transportation team. This role can be based in Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH, and focuses on guiding technical design, mentoring junior staff, and delivering innovative transportation solutions.

You will lead project design development, oversee day-to-day management, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with project leaders to meet client requirements on high-complexity assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical advancement of highway design projects.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop design criteria, alignments, plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations, and sign and seal as required.
• Perform site reviews to ensure designs meet location specifications.
• Assist in proposal development and respond to client RFPs.
