Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design to join the New England Transportation team. Based in Boston, East Hartford, or Manchester, you will lead technical advancement, mentor juniors, and deliver complex transportation solutions.

You will develop design criteria, manage construction plans and cost estimates, review designs for regulatory compliance, and collaborate across leaders to ensure high-quality deliverables on time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects and ensure accuracy.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Review draft designs for compliance with regulations.
• Sign and seal engineering designs as required.
• Perform site reviews and studies; update design requirements as needed.
• Support proposals and review drafts for client RFPs.
