Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced electrical engineering group lead for nuclear power projects in the United States. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, manage scope, deliverables, and client coordination while overseeing design changes, calculations, specifications, and equipment selections to ensure reliability and compliance.

The role requires a ABET‑accredited BSEE, 10+ years in nuclear power electrical design, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Ten or more years’ experience in the design of electrical engineering systems for nuclear power plants.
  • Three or more years experience in leading an engineering design group through all phases of a project design.
  • Experience with equipment selection, materials, and the preparation and assembling of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
  • Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
  • Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays, etc.).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information to project team members and client.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Detail oriented approach to work.
  • Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
  • PE Licensure is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts by the group to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering project deliverables meeting technical, quality, financial, and project controls expectations.
  • Initiate and convey scope of work to group members; define deliverables (calcs, specs, drawings, etc.).
  • Review status and track progress of group members to maintain scope and budget; keep client informed.
  • Conduct routine status meetings and submit progress reports.
  • Coordinate completion of project deliverables with multi-discipline teams.
  • Provide technical oversight for electrical engineering activities including design change packages and calculations (AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relays).
  • Interface with client to validate scope and ensure satisfaction; mentor the development of the group; identify opportunities for follow-on work.
  • Prepare and coordinate multi-discipline proposals.
