Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced electrical engineer to lead a multi-disciplinary group on challenging nuclear power projects. You will drive design, calculations, and specifications, while coordinating with clients to ensure scope, cost, and schedule targets are met.

The role emphasizes leadership, technical oversight, and the ability to mentor others, with opportunities to shape complex electrical modifications and plant reliability initiatives.

Qualifications

• BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Ten or more years’ experience in designing electrical systems for nuclear power plants.
• Three or more years leading an engineering design group.
• Experience selecting equipment/materials and preparing design change packages, calculations, and specs.
• Experience as firm/client liaison in a lead role.
• Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Detail oriented approach to work.
• Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
• PE Licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead group members to ensure successful completion of electrical engineering deliverables within scope, quality, cost, and controls.
• Initiate and convey scope of work and define deliverables (calcs, specs, drawings, design changes).
• Review status and track progress; keep client informed; conduct routine status meetings; submit progress reports.
• Lead detailed design phases and interface with other disciplines.
• Develop project scope, cost estimates, and schedules for complex electrical modifications at nuclear plants.
• Develop proposals for complex electrical modifications at nuclear plants.
• Provide technical supervision for design change packages, calculations, equipment specs, and procurement.
• Interface with client and validate scope; mentor and guide group development.
• Identify client needs and potential strategic opportunities; cultivate relationships for follow-on work.
• Prepare coordinates for multi-discipline proposals.
