Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, is seeking a Lead Engineer in Austin, TX to provide senior engineering expertise on complex utility distribution projects. You will supervise engineers and technicians, ensure project quality, and maintain strong client relationships in a hybrid work environment.

This role requires hands-on design review, guidance on distribution facilities, and a track record of delivering projects on time.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• 10+ years of overhead and underground distribution engineering experience in electric utilities.
• Strong understanding of electrical design including conductors, switchgear, breakers, fuses and distribution equipment.
• Knowledge of CSA/IEC/NESC standards and major utility engineering standards.
• Knowledge of overhead systems design and PLS-CADD (preferred).
• Strong project management skills and experience (preferred).
• Ability to lead, mentor and collaborate within a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters.
• Communicate clear expectations, goals, and vision.
• Manage team performance and delegate project work.
• Motivate, coach and mentor team members.
• Manage projects and ensure quality and on-time delivery.
• Review and approve engineering design submittals.
• Develop lasting client relationships and manage proposals.
