Job summary

Pickett, an ESP Associates company, seeks a Lead Engineer to provide leadership and senior-level engineering expertise on complex utility distribution projects. You will guide design across overhead and underground facilities, ensuring client requirements, quality, and schedule alignment while engaging the team.

The role emphasizes hands-on management, mentoring, and delivering designs that meet client standards. PE preferred; hybrid workplace; rigorous safety and collaboration culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification (preferred).
• 10+ years of overhead and underground distribution engineering experience in electric utility industry (required).
• Strong understanding of electrical design and distribution equipment.
• Knowledge of CSA/IEC/NESC standards and codes.
• Knowledge of overhead systems design; experience with PLS-CADD (preferred).
• Understanding of structural, civil and geotechnical aspects (preferred).
• Strong project management skills (preferred).
• Safely compliant and self-starter in unstructured environments.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters.
• Communicate clear expectations, goals, and vision.
• Manage team performance and delegate project work.
• Motivate, coach and mentor team members.
• Manage projects and ensure on-time delivery.
• Review and approve engineering design submittals.

• Estimate projects and prepare proposals.
