Job summary

Richmond Community Services is seeking an experienced Lead Direct Support Professional to take a leadership role in our residential programs. You will remain hands-on with direct support while guiding teammates and reinforcing best practices.

You will coordinate daily shift activities, mentor DSPs, and ensure accurate documentation, health monitoring, and medication procedures. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a DSP at Richmond.
• Six months at the location where they intend to support as Lead DSP.
• Maintain all required certifications and training.
• Good standing with a performance grade of at least 1.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality with no attendance violations in the last six months.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily shift activities and ensure responsibilities are followed.
• Mentor DSPs and orient new employees.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and communication.
• Maintain continuity between Day and Evening shifts via handoffs.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Review shift completion reports and follow up on documentation.
• Reinforce procedures for medication, health monitoring, and required records.
• Communicate health, safety, staffing, and operational concerns to management.
• Coordinate appointments and health follow-up with Community Nursing.
• Support transitions between Day Programs and the residence.
• Monitor supplies, inventory, clothing needs, and vehicle maintenance.
• Identify operational needs and bring them to management.
