Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to champion continuous improvement across operations in Indianapolis. You will lead data-driven CI, engineering, and automation initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth, interfacing with all levels of the organization.

You’ll leverage analytics and lean tools to identify root causes and sustain enhancements. You may supervise CI resources, collaborate with General Managers, and drive cross-functional projects using Kaizen

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain; 7+ years in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing (required).
• 7+ years in related work in warehousing/transportation and/or manufacturing (required).
• Expert in MS Office suite with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio.
• Data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) preferred.
• Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, 5S/5S-lean.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes; identifies gaps; implements CI plans.
• Leads high-impact CI projects across the operation and supports start-ups, retrofits, and expansions.
• Coaches employees in CI, QA, and Lean methods; applies engineering methods to improve operations.
• Supervises CI engineers and quality professionals; participates in hiring and performance management.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; sustains improvements over time.
• Reports progress against site objectives and recommends inventory/SC strategies.
