Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Sales Associate on our General Rentals team to begin a structured training path that prepares you for a future Outside Sales Representative role.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with our equipment and build customer relationships while learning proven sales methodologies. Starting at a local branch, you will shadow sales and operations, participate in onboarding, and advance through outbound campaigns, CRM tools, and rental lifecycle processes to drive revenue

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in a customer-facing sales role is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Proficient computer and mobile device skills.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Begin training at a local branch, shadowing sales and operations to learn the full equipment-rental lifecycle.
• Participate in onboarding classes and collaborative training environments.
• Engage in outbound sales campaigns across different customer segments.
• Master United Rentals sales tools including CRM, inventory management platforms, and customer portals.
• Lead high-level sales conversations involving pricing, multi-piece rental requests, and service contracts.
• Learn and apply proven sales methodologies to drive revenue growth.
• Participate in local team initiatives and track progress with performance metrics.
• Receive daily feedback from leadership and coaching sessions.
• Develop sales strategies for accounts and set timelines to achieve goals.
• Progression from SDP to OSR typically takes 4–6 months depending on performance.
