What You’ll Do

Reporting to the SVP, Sales, Life Sciences, the Account Vice President (Account VP) manages the business relationship with one of Tempus’s largest biopharma partners. The role involves leading a team responsible for sales, delivery, revenue, and KPIs. The Account VP develops strategies to ensure success and foster long-term growth and collaboration.

They oversee a Key Account Director and Project Manager, focusing on sales expansion and project execution, emphasizing high-level account management, strategy, scientific collaboration, and partnership development.

Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement account strategies to meet revenue and partnership goals.
    • Act as the executive owner to ensure partnership success, aligning objectives with senior counterparts.
  2. Client Engagement:
    • Build relationships with executive and R&D stakeholders, promoting engagement and strategy alignment.
    • Gain expertise in the partner’s strategy to identify opportunities for platform leverage.
  3. Revenue and Growth:
    • Achieve revenue targets and secure new business opportunities.
    • Negotiate and manage large, multi-year contracts.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Lead teams across functions to deliver value and ensure seamless project execution.
    • Guide team members to meet initiative goals.
  5. Thought Leadership:
    • Develop case studies showcasing platform impact.
    • Provide market and client feedback to leadership.
  6. Operational Excellence:
    • Track progress against objectives and report to leadership.
    • Travel approximately 40% domestically and internationally.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Leadership and Strategy:
    • Proven entrepreneurial sales and account management skills in a high-growth environment.
    • Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  2. Client Expertise:
    • Deep relationships within pharma and biotech sectors.
    • Experience managing complex client organizations.
  3. Analytical and Adaptive:
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate ideas into solutions.
    • High adaptability to evolving landscapes.
  4. Collaboration and Influence:
    • Ability to inspire teams and influence stakeholders.
Experience
  1. 10+ years in business development, sales, or account management in Life Sciences, focusing on strategic accounts.
  2. At least 5+ years working with R&D or Real-World Data in Life Sciences companies.
  3. Proven success in negotiating large, complex agreements.
  4. Strong understanding of molecular data, AI, and drug discovery.
  5. Advanced degree preferred (MBA, PhD, or equivalent).
