Job summary

AnaVation is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to contribute to secure, mission‑critical applications used by federal law enforcement. You’ll work under senior developers, learning to build reliable software that meets federal security standards.

You will join a collaborative engineering team, interacting with forensic specialists and crypto SMEs to deliver features and tools essential to the program’s mission. Remote work is supported with occasional onsite visits in DC/NOVA.

Qualifications

• Software-development experience, working under general supervision with knowledge of commonly used concepts and practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
• Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals, secure coding, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to applications supporting sensitive data or investigative workflows beneficial.
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for a Secret clearance. DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) suitability is required to begin support. Following EOD approval, candidates will be processed for, and must successfully obtain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain application features under guidance from senior developers.
• Assist with software requirements, design, testing, and maintenance tasks.
• Use modern programming tools, version control, and secure‑coding practices.
• Support debugging, documentation, and sprint activities.
• Work within DevSecOps pipelines and government‑compliant development workflows.
• Troubleshoot issues and support system integration tasks.
