Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Junior-Level Staff Geologist/Hydrogeologist to join our team in Rancho Cordova, CA. Under supervision, you will expand your technical expertise across water resources planning and hydrogeologic investigations, supporting clients throughout California and the western United States.

A field component may require travel, including weekends and overnight trips. You will perform office and field activities, supervise subcontractors, analyze data, develop workplans,

Qualifications

• B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, Earth Science, or closely related field; Graduate degree(s) are a plus, or equivalent experience.
• Experience and coursework in hydrogeology, groundwater modeling, and water resource planning.
• Strong grasp of basic geologic principles and California geology.
• 0-5 years of previous professional experience in geological/geotechnical consulting.
• Excellent computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication and technical reporting writing skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel for short-term (1 to 5 days) and long-term (weeks to months) assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and administrative support for hydrogeology and water resource projects across the West.
• Perform office and geologic field activities including logging boreholes and well installations.
• Provide technical oversight of subcontractors and assist in developing investigation workplans.
• Perform data management and analysis, prepare reports and deliver technical presentations.
• Interpret aerial photographs, LiDAR, and support groundwater modeling efforts.
• Prepare technical reports and permit applications; assist in maps and cross-sections.
