Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer for our Columbia, MD office starting in Summer 2027. You will assist the Property & Buildings team with due diligence, design, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial projects across public and private sectors.

Under supervision, you’ll help prepare electrical calculations, prepare design drawings, and generate concise documentation while adhering to safety and quality standards. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with electrical design standards and codes.
• Effective written and verbal communication with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to substation components and procurement pricing.
• Assist in design work for single line, three line, wiring diagrams and bus layout.
• Develop basic electrical calculations for loads, sizing, grounding, and protection.
• Generate documentation using drawings, logs, and electronic systems.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and project procedures on site.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and travel as required.
