Job summary

WSP USA in Arlington, VA is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer for the summer 2027 start. You will assist on design, analysis, and documentation for utility and building-scale projects under the Property & Buildings team.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, up to 1 year of experience, and familiarity with design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Aspen, and CAPE, along with strong communication and safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • General understanding of electrical engineering as applied in design engineering of large capital projects.
  • Familiarity with relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Aspen, and CAPE).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to policies.
  • Ability to work schedules beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data relating to substation components and equipment for procurement and design.
  • Assist with designing single line, three line diagrams, and bus arrangements.
  • Perform basic professional electrical engineering work for loads, sizing, and grounding calculations.
  • Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and site logs.
  • Ensure safety guidelines and project procedures are followed.
  • Complete assigned training and tasks under supervision.
  • Collaborate with team to meet project objectives and adhere to codes.
