Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a full-time Early Career Electrical Engineer to join our Columbia, MD team starting Summer 2027. You will assist in design and analysis for transmission and distribution projects, including substations, power distribution, and protection systems, across various sectors.

This is a hands-on role with opportunities to work on public and private projects and grow with the Property & Buildings team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 0–1 year of relevant post-education experience.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office software.
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Aspen, CAPE).
  • Knowledge of IEEE/NESC and NERC regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for substation components and procurement packages.
  • Design support for single line and three-line diagrams, general arrangement, and bus layout.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, conductor sizing, and grounding.
  • Create documentation using electronic systems and field notes.
  • Ensure safety guidelines and project procedures are followed.
