Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer for our Columbia, MD office to start in Summer 2027. You'll support the electrical design for substations, power distribution, and related systems within the Property & Buildings team, contributing to projects across utilities, transportation, and building sectors.

You will collect data, assist with drawings and calculations, and grow your skills in engineering design, documentation, and field work while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
  • 0–1 year of related post-education experience.
  • Strong analytical and research abilities.
  • Familiarity with electrical design codes and regulations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection for substation components and equipment specifications.
  • Support design work including single line diagrams, bus arrangement, grounding, and protection concepts.
  • Prepare electrical calculations for loads, sizing, and voltage drop under supervision.
  • Generate documentation using drawings and field notebooks to support procurement and construction.
  • Ensure safety procedures and site rules are followed in all tasks.
  • Assist with compliance reviews and project-related research as needed.
