Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer in Herndon, VA to assist in due diligence, design, and construction of utilities and commercial projects. You will work on substation design, power distribution, and protection systems under supervision, preparing accurate documentation and adhering to industry safety standards.

The role emphasizes entry-level engineering tasks, basic calculations, and collaboration with project teams to develop compliant solutions for public and private sector

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 0–1 year of post-education experience.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Understanding of electrical design for large capital projects.
• Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes and compliance.
• Effective communication with engineers and non-engineers.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with substation component data collection and analysis.
• Support design of single/three-line diagrams and bus arrangements.
• Contribute to calculations for loads, sizing, voltage drop and grounding.
• Help prepare documentation using electronic systems and drawings.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and project procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and expand technical knowledge.
• Collaborate to meet project objectives and schedules.
