Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Early Career Electrical Engineer for our York, PA office, starting Summer 2027. You will work with the Property & Buildings team on utilities, industrial and commercial projects, assisting with design development, calculations and documentation.

Responsibilities include creating single line and bus layouts, grounding, protection, and coordination with safety, with emphasis on quality and compliance with IEEE/NESC/NERC standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 0–1 years of post-education experience.
  • Strong research skills and analytical mindset.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering for large capital projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Proficient with technical writing, office tools.
  • Familiarity with design software (Revit, AutoCAD, Aspen, CAPE).
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data on substation components and equipment specifications.
  • Assist with design of single line and three-line diagrams, bus arrangements, and grounding design.
  • Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements, cabling, and conduit/trenching strategies.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide basic engineering assistance on design and testing procedures.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, and lighting circuits under supervision.
  • Generate complete documentation using drawings and field notes.
