Job summary

Brown University is seeking an IT Support Consultant to deliver advanced support for applications, operating systems, desktops, mobile hardware and audiovisual systems for the School of Engineering. You will handle on-site and remote troubleshooting and maintain responsiveness to help tickets, calls, and walk-ins.

The role requires 2–3 years of desktop support experience, preference for RHCSA/RHCE etc., and experience in a university setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in Higher Education preferred.
2-3 years' experience providing desktop support in an IT help desk environment.
Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, CompTIA, ITIL, HDI-CSR/DST/TSP, ACSP/ACTC/ACMT/ACHDS preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced application, OS, desktop and mobile hardware support to the Engineering community.
Perform on-site and remote troubleshooting with prioritization and independence.
Support projects and provide backup for colleagues' sick/vacation time.
Maintain strong customer service and effective communication with faculty, students and staff.
