Job summary

University of Michigans CAEN IT organization seeks a Desktop Support Specialist to provide front-line endpoint support for faculty, staff, and students. You will troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity across Windows, macOS, and Linux in offices, classrooms, labs, and research environments.

You will image and deploy new computers, diagnose network and printing issues, support AV/classroom tech, and ensure endpoints are secure and up to date. Excellent customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelord degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years administering Windows, macOS, and Linux with scripting.
• Experience with enterprise macOS deployments and hardware support.
• Familiarity with endpoint inventory and security fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Deployment: image and deploy new computer hardware and peripherals.
• Network coordination and VLAN port management across campuses.
• Asset management and accurate inventory of hardware and software licenses.
• Provide front-line end-user support across Windows, macOS, Linux.
• Troubleshoot printing, AV/classroom tech, and device peripherals.
• Document work in ticketing system and maintain SOPs.
• Onboard new hires with ready hardware and access permissions.
• Proactively apply security patches and monitor vulnerabilities.
