Brown University’s School of Engineering seeks IT Support Consultants to deliver advanced desktop, OS and hardware support to a diverse academic community. The role blends on-site service with remote troubleshooting to keep systems running smoothly.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 2–3 years in a help desk, and relevant certifications. The department emphasizes teamwork, customer service, and thoughtful, inclusive problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2–3 years’ experience providing desktop support in an IT help desk environment.
• RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, CompTIA or similar certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced application, OS, desktop and mobile hardware support to the Engineering community via on-site and remote troubleshooting.
• Respond to Help Tickets, calls, and walk-ins with timely, professional service.
• Balance priorities, escalate issues when needed, and work independently.
• Support projects and provide cross-coverage for colleagues’ time off.
• Perform other duties as required for the School of Engineering.
