Job summary

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is seeking an IT Support Assistant at the Lincoln Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The role focuses on delivering responsive technical support and maintaining reliable technology operations across district and school sites.

The position reports to the Coordinator of Client Services and Asset Management and involves performing hardware/software upgrades, helping with help desk activities, and setting up AV equipment for events.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid NC Driver's License.
• Experience in a customer service or computer support environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Apple, Windows and Google device ecosystems.
• Ability to communicate with users to determine problem details.
• Self initiative in being part of a team and assisting technical staff.
• Alternative qualifications may be considered by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Follow established procedures for processing IT support requests and close tickets per SLAs.
• Maintain inventory of physical assets and a parts inventory.
• Process surplus equipment at assigned locations.
• Deliver and pick up equipment for repair at approved vendor sites.
• Troubleshoot computer equipment, peripherals, software, network connections and classroom presentation equipment.
• Assist with installation of new hardware and software and network connections.
• Participate in hardware/software upgrades and help desk support.
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
