Job summary

GRO Community in Chicago, IL is seeking an Intake Coordinator to manage initial registration for new clients, verify insurance, collect medical histories, and coordinate with clinical staff to determine appropriate care levels.

You will handle referrals, interview clients, schedule intake appointments, provide urgent phone support, and connect clients to community resources. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field required; exceptions may apply with experience.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems preferred.
• Strong communication and empathy skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, process, and track incoming referrals from various sources.
• Screen clients for service appropriateness and conduct interviews regarding mental health history and current needs.
• Verify insurance eligibility, obtain prior authorizations, and schedule intake appointments with clinical staff.
• Work with clinical teams for case assignment and link clients to appropriate community resources.
• Provide urgent intervention and support over the phone to patients in distress.

God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.

Position Summary:

The Intake Coordinator manages the initial registration for new clients, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure a smooth, efficient entry into services. They verify insurance, gather medical histories, complete necessary documentation, and collaborate with our mental health staff to determine appropriate care levels, ensuring a supportive experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review, process, and track incoming referrals from various sources.
• Screen clients for service appropriateness and conduct interviews regarding mental health history and current needs.
