Job summary

AdaptHealth, LLC is seeking an Intake Specialist to support patient access by coordinating referrals, reviewing clinical documents, and ensuring services are set up accurately and efficiently.

You will work with patients, providers, and internal teams to verify eligibility, navigate payer requirements, and move the intake process forward smoothly in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• One year of relatable work experience required.
• High School Diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in admin, billing, insurance, call center, or customer service preferred but not required.
• Healthcare administration or Medicare environment experience a plus but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with healthcare systems is a plus.
• Comfort learning new technologies and navigating multiple systems.
• Ability to work independently following established procedures and directives.

Responsibilities

• Review patient information and payer guidelines to determine eligibility and qualification status.
• Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibility and document interactions.
• Notify patients when documentation does not meet payer requirements and present alternatives.
• Coordinate with referral sources, physicians, and clinical teams to obtain complete documentation.
• Maintain accurate, timely patient information in electronic systems.
• Enter referrals within established timeframes while meeting productivity standards.
• Assist leadership in ensuring appropriate inventory and services are scheduled.
• Collaborate with sales, insurance verification, and internal support teams to facilitate intake.
• Navigate multiple EMR and online systems to obtain and manage documentation.
• Ensure appropriate shipping and delivery methods in line with procedures.
• Answer incoming calls and provide professional assistance to patients and referral sources.
• Participate in on-call rotation during non-business hours as required.
• Support team operations by adhering to policies and quality standards.
