Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to lead drafting for state and product expansions. You will own form language, conduct statutory research, and serve as a primary drafting owner for your line while backing up the other line as needed.

You will collaborate with Claims, Product, and Customer Experience, review regulator objections, and help shape Kin's policy language strategy as the company grows across multiple states.

Qualifications

• JD degree required.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations and converting requirements into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Experience advising business stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, from research to filing-ready.

Responsabilités

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms and advocate for Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and elevate novel state law questions.
• Build and maintain base forms and state kits for your line across the country.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed future state packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs before drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for legal accuracy and establish guardrails.
• Maintain and update forms packages in response to statutes, regulations, and product changes.
