Job summary

Kin Insurance is hiring an Insurance Counsel - Forms to lead policy form drafting for personal auto or property as Kin expands into new states and products. You will draft, review, and supervise filing-ready forms packages and provide regulatory and business counsel on form wording.

You will collaborate with Claims, Product, and Customer Experience teams to ensure coverage interpretation aligns with regulatory expectations and company objectives, while maintaining high standards for compliance.

Qualifications

• JD required with strong drafting background.
• 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state statutes and translate requirements into policy language.
• Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Advising stakeholders on coverage interpretation and policy wording

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and regulations and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections on forms and advocate for Kin's position with regulators.
• Provide legal advice on coverage interpretation and form wording to internal partners.
• Draft complete state and product forms packages for your line of business, ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review of forms and escalate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Build and maintain countrywide base forms and state kit for your line.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed up new state packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in proposed product designs before drafting starts.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and establish guardrails for AI use.
• Maintain and update forms in response to new statutes, regulations, and product changes.
